The Philippine Art Awards Competition

  • This is a nationwide visual art competition.

  • The competition is two-tiered:

    • Phase 1) Regional selection of winners, and
      Phase 2) National selection of winners from the Regional Winners.

  • This is a biennial competition with Phase 1 happening the first year (2007) and Phase 2 happening the following year (2008).

  • For Phase 1, the competition field is divided into four (4) separate Collective Regional Areas (CRAs) namely: 1) NCR, 2) Luzon 3) Visayas and 3) Mindanao and shall cover the following specific areas:

Luzon Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) / Ilocos Region / Cagayan Valley / Central Luzon / CALBARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) / MIMAROPA (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) / Bicol Region

NCR 17 cities & municipalities of Metro Manila


Visayas Western Visayas / Central Visayas / Eastern Visayas


Mindanao Zamboanga / Northern Mindanao / Davao Region / SOCCSKARGEN (South Cotabato, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Saranggani / Caraga (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur) / Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)




Biennial Competition Format

1. PAA 2007 : A Regional Selection in 2007
Each Collective Regional Area (CRA) will have its independent Regional Competition. Artworks submitted to the designated collection centers in the four Collective Regional Areas will be gathered and judged separately. Ten (10) Regional Winners from each of the four CRAs will be selected to represent each of the CRA.

An artist can only join ONE (1) CRA. An artist shall be automatically disqualified if found to have joined more than one competition conducted in other CRAs.

2. PAA 2008 : National Finals in 2008
There will be no submission of artworks for the national competition. Only the 40 Regional Winners already chosen the previous year (2007) will compete in the National Finals.

One Grand Prize Winner and 5 Juror’s Choices will be awarded from the field of 40 Regional Winners.
